Everything you need to know about storing and sharing files on AIEIO Files.
Is AIEIO Files free?
Yes. Every account starts with 2 GB of storage at no cost, including folders, sharing with other users, and secure public links. If you need more room, an administrator can raise your quota.
Are my files private?
Yes. Nothing you upload is public or browsable. Files are stored outside the web server's public area and can only be reached through the app after a permission check - by you, by people you explicitly share with, or by someone holding a link you created.
How do I share a file or folder?
Open the item's menu and choose Share. You can invite another AIEIO Files user by email as a viewer (can view and download) or an editor (can also upload and change), or create a public link.
Can I share with someone who has no account?
Yes - create a public link. You can make it view-only or downloadable, protect it with a password, set it to expire after a number of days, and revoke it at any time.
What is the difference between a viewer and an editor?
A viewer can open and download the shared item. An editor can also rename, upload into a shared folder, and remove items within it. Only the owner can delete permanently, manage who it is shared with, and create public links.
How big a file can I upload?
Up to 250 MB per file. You can upload many files at once by dragging them onto the page. Your total usage counts against your storage quota.
What happens when I delete something?
It goes to Trash, where it stays for 30 days and can be restored. Emptying the Trash, or choosing Delete forever, removes it permanently and frees the storage.
Do you keep old versions of a file?
Yes. When you upload a new version of an existing file, the previous version is kept (up to the last ten) and can be restored from the file's Version history.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. The app is responsive and installable - add it to your home screen and it works like an app, including an offline shell.
Where are my files stored?
On AIEIO infrastructure in Australia (Directory.com.au Pty Ltd). Secrets are encrypted at rest and link passwords are stored only as secure hashes.
